BACKGROUND
ReThread was a school project. We were again tasked with creating a design and prototype for a hypothetical application of our choice, this time hoping to show growth in our design skills, and to see improvements from our first projects.
Again, as with my first project, looking back on ReThread I find quite a few things I would do differently now. Still, I find things that I like about my old designs. ​​​
CONCEPT
The application idea came as a way to rescue my struggling wardrobe. I have a passing interest in fashion, but found that the clothes I wanted from the brands everyone bought were prohibitively expensive. After meeting someone on campus that designed their own clothes, I wondered what kind of community could be built around homemade, modern clothing, and I wondered what an application to provide that digital infrastructure would look like. Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to buy clothing directly from local designers? If there was a suite to help the average user design their own clothes with graphics they enjoy and personal touches?
